Old Title: Shortcut will not open from desktop For about a month now, I have not been able to open up Google Chrome straight from either the desktop shortcut or from the pin bar. The shortcut looks like it is going in the right file path but or some reason it does not open. If I click on the shortcuts they'll act as if they are about to open but then they stop the process by themselves. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program several times over the past few weeks but that hasn't helped. I tried making shortcuts directly from the file path but they only work a few times (if I'm lucky) before I begin to have the same problem. I have also ran antivirus and anti malware software twice since the problem started and I haven't found anything. Nothing seems to be wrong with the browser itself so I have to assume that it is a problem with windows 8. I upgraded to 8.1 when the update came out and Chrome worked perfectly fine on it before this started happening. Is there any way to fix this issue? I was having the same problem and I think its because I have chrome installed on a harddrive that is not my primary, but then every time it saves something (i.e. Updates) it does it to my primary hard drive and causes issues. Not sure, but I am having THE SAME EXACT ISSUE where I can make a shortcut to chrome on my desktop and for a couple of hours, it will work and then it stops. I've gone to the extent to just copying a shortcut to the application folder on my desktop. So its two clicks away instead of one. A minor inconvenience but if anyone knows how I can just fix the problem I would love to hear it! Thunderbird open message in new window. I used the recovery procedure mentioned above and happily went on with my life until I wanted to demo something (with AirParrot) and it happened again. I ran the procedure again and recovered. Later, I installed Reflector2 (from Squirrels) to mirror an iPad app to a projector. So whatever Squirrels does on 10.7 seemed to kill my Dropbox - and no, I don't use their software any more. Pity though, because otherwise it works really well.
